Handmade, personally customised surfmats are fun and really fast

Handmade surfmats are different

Anyone can get on a handmade surfmat and start catching waves straight away. You can ride a surfmat on any wave that another craft can ride. Surfmats will also make the best of average or poor conditions where other surf craft fail. Whether the waves are little or large, choppy or clean you can get the ride of your life.

A surfmat needs only a few breaths and you're ready to go - less is more.
A surfmat needs only a few breaths and you’re ready to go – less is more.

You’ll only need to blow a few breaths into it and you’re ready to ride.

The genius of the surfmat is that they’re ridden only partially inflated. In this way the surfmat can shift its shape to match the changing wave face. By remaining soft your surfmat can be hyper-responsive – any bumps on the wave face can ripple through the soft skin so you can keep accelerating. You become part of the wave.

Inflatable. Lightweight. Portable.

Warpmats weigh around 400 grams depending your design. When deflated your surfmat can be rolled up or folded to about the size of a laptop computer. This makes them incredibly portable taking up very little room in a bag or backpack. It is the ultimate wave riding craft for travelling.

Handmade in Cornwall, UK

Every Warpmats surfmat is handmade by Matt Fedden in his workshop in Cornwall in the United Kingdom. Personally customised, your surfmat is designed for you and the waves you ride. His passion is to create customised surfmats that are beautiful, strong, super-lightweight and really fun so you can catch and surf the best waves of your life. Some of the custom acid dyed decks are created by the other half of Warpmats, Ian Jermyn. Ian also looks after a lot of the online end of things. He’s usually a first person to get back to you on Facebook and Instagram.

For all new builds the process begins by speaking to Matt who will build your surfmat from start to finish unless you’re keen to rope Ian in to do some custom acid dye work. If you’re ready to build or would like to know more get in contact.

Every handmade Warpmats is designed in close collaboration with the surfer. This allows Matt to explore nuanced or experimental design ideas and aesthetics.
